A message from Anthony

Anthony Walker - Decipher - DecipherAg - DecipherGreen - DecipherWaste

“After being diagnosed with type II diabetes five years ago, I understand the need for education and awareness around healthy eating habits and exercise.

I’ve spent a fair amount of time travelling to many remote Aboriginal communities throughout Australia and have seen firsthand the gap that exists between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The Starlight Children’s Foundation’s Healthier Futures Initiative is really crucial in helping close the gap in health.”

I am taking part to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. You can help too by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference:
  • $150 will deliver an arts and craft pack to 5 children in remote communities
  • $250 will pack a suitcase of fun for Captain Starlight to take to kids in remote communities
  • $1,200 will deliver an arts and craft pack to 40 children in remote communities
  • $2,500 helps fly a Captain Starlight to a remote health clinic

You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media.

Thank you for your generosity and support — it means a lot to me. Together we can help Starlight Children’s Foundation create the world we want to see.

It’s not too late to donate!

About Tour de Kids Red Centre Challenge 2019

The 2018 Tour de Kids Red Centre Challenge raised an amazing $225,000 for Starlight’s Healthier Futures Initiative, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. These funds enabled the renovation of a Starlight ‘Playroom’ in Alice Springs Hospital plus the recruitment of 6 Captain Starlights in Alice Springs.

As a result of this, Captain Starlight along with health professionals, has been on 32 trips to remote communities, spent 40 days in community, visited 19 different communities and  seen over 1036 kids in remote communities. Additionally, since renovating the room there have been 2899 visits to the playroom.  Sick kids and their families now have access to an inviting space within the walls of what is often a sterile, cold and isolating hospital environment. As a result of both the hospital playroom and remote community visits, there has been reduced level of boredom, fear and anxiety in patients, a decrease in families self-discharging, increase in clinic attendance and repeat attendance plus a delivery of a more positive all-round hospital & clinic experience.

Our goal for this year is to raise $300,000 to continue program delivery.

Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and young people by replacing pain, fear and stress with fun, joy and laughter.
